Why the Spirit of Europe? A meaning to life
The symbol chosen for the Spirit of Europe is the 'grail', within the 12 stars of Europe. That is because this party is unique: a down-to-earth vehicle for a new spiritual awareness. This energy rising everywhere is a union of everyday material life (the cup) and the spirit or 'breath of life' (the wine it contains). This union gives life meaning. Each person best defines this meaning for him or herself rather than by any religious or political creed. The Spirit of Europe protects and extends this personal freedom.
Protection from fundamentalism
The new meaning that people want in life needs new structures in legislation & government. It is too important to be left to changing fashion. It also needs protection from religious and political fundamentalism.
The meaning shift - spiritual values save money
Economics currently dominates politics. Money is an important energy, but politics is limited by economic single-mindedness. People want a meaningful life. Spirit is what gives people's lives meaning, however they define it. The Spirit of Europe speaks up for meaning, supporting a shift from economic to spiritual values in government. So many 'social problems' (drug addiction, crime, poverty, youth alienation etc.) can be addressed by the meaning shift without cost to the taxpayer. Spiritual politics can succeed where economic politics cannot go any further. In this way spiritual politics in practice will save the public purse.
